Which brings me to the topic at hand.... 38 year old Eric Prokopi (Fla) plead guilty to stealing a 70 million year old dinosaur skeleton from Mangolia and now faces 17 years in prison along with $250,000 in fines. This isnt his first go around either, he was also accused of smuggling dinosaur skeletons from China.
From what i understand, there are people out there that are so ridiculously rich... they surf the black market for ancient artifacts and things along this nature just to have in their foyers on display for their company. Here's what i think..... if youre that damn rich... and are dying to show off something you bought, why not help a community or build a rec center somewhere for the love of God! Snobs.... dont even get me started.
I think the main reason i chose to write about this, is lately there has been quite a bit of international theft happening. Not small items that can be replaced by mid income workers in no time at all.... but priceless art, jewelery worth a small village, even Sadaam had his rifle stolen when the US finally overthrew him and his regime. Somehow these stolen items always seem to end up in the hands of Americans, and that's what bothers me i guess.
We aren't the only country that steals, and buys goods from the black market. But how are we ever going to clean up our image if none of us give a damn. How can you say you hate a theif if you buy things from someone who stole? I bet every one of the people who bid on things like this would want a theif thrown under the prison for stealing from them. But as long as it was stolen from somewhere else.... thats completely fine. Just my opinion. Ok, ive said my piece...... what's yours? Leave a comment!
