What in Gods name is going on the world of college sports? By no means should this be an eye opener because it's not the first time something like this has happened. What unfolded this past saturday evening near Auburns campus in Alabama is to say the least a horrific event that will haunt the lives of the families left with the painful duty of burying their children, and forever change the lives of those that were injured, but live to see another day.
What started out as a pleasant night on campus ended up to be quite the opposite with a fight breaking out that shortly thereafter was followed by gunshots. Six people were shot that night, only 3 were lucky enough to make it thru.
20 year old Ladarius Phillips, a true fullback.... ex lineman/redshirt freshman Ed Christian also 20 years of age..... and Demario Pitts, an Auburn resident were among the list of fallen victims to one mans cowardly attempt to resolve an altercation. Among the wounded was Sophmore lineman Eric Mack who was released from the hospital after treatment.
The police have released the name of the suspect and consider him to be armed and dangerous. The Auburn police dept is searching for 22 year old Desmonte Leonard from Montgomery Alabama for the saturday night shooting. They have also stated that Leonard is in no way tied to Auburn athletics.
My deepest condolences go out to the families involved as well as those who were wounded. I cant begin to explain how important it is for all of us to think before we react. There is always another way. Before you make life changing decisions that effect others and yourself in a negative way..... remind yourself that God gave us a brain, and the ability to talk for a reason. We now have families.....once again...that have to bury their children way too early. PLEASE THINK FIRST. Got any conments.......speak on it.
