Down South Hip Hop

There is no question about it.... down south rap has pretty much taken over. Been that way for quite some time now. Started out with groups like Outkast, Goodie Mob, Eightball & MJG..... then Master P and Co. blew shit up like crazy!! Shortly after came Cash Money.... now we have artists like Jeezy, Slim Thug, T.I, B.O.B, Gucci, and Yo Gotti to name a few. Now some of the artists i named off.... i do support hands down. The lyrical content is always there on top of a hot beat. But others on the list and some i didnt mention just dont get it for me. One in particular is Woka Flocka.... i dont even know if i spelled his name correct.... i listened to his newest single on satellite radio today.... the beat was HOT.... but im the type to listen to lyrics as well. You gotta be talkin about somethin before i give you credit. To me it sounded like he got the baddest beat in the market, and put a bunch of shit on it. His ad libs and back ups actually made the song for him....not the lyrics. Yet he is one of the highest played artists on the radio! You can NOT turn the beat off and listen to his lyrics in amazement by what he says just like way too many artists that are doing huge numbers right now. Why are the artists with no lyrical skill actually doing better than those that can rock a crowd with no beat at all? Someone PLEASE tell me!!!

  1. songs over a beat like you're talking about are catchy... catchy songs make for great songs to sing along to, to get stuck in your head, and to be repeatedly monotonously like chanting. i'm convinced people don't listen to half the shit they say when they sing along. i've never understood the waka thing...
